Heated pool in Marrakech
26 to 28°C year-round, no sharing, at the hour that suits you.
The pool at Villa Azur is heated on request, 300 MAD per day, available year-round. This is not a marketing gimmick: in Marrakech, an unheated pool drops to 14-18°C from November to March, too cold for a comfortable swim. Heated, it holds between 26 and 28°C, whatever the season. That is the difference between a pool you look at and a pool you actually swim in.
Why Marrakech needs a heated pool
Marrakech's climate misleads a lot of travellers: sunny days even in January, but nights that drop below 10°C and water that follows the same curve. In summer, the pool warms up naturally past 28°C, heating becomes pointless. It is mainly October to April where the difference shows, exactly the months when many villas advertise a pool without mentioning it is freezing.
How it works at the villa
A heat pump keeps the water between 26 and 28°C continuously, not just during use. Heating is switched on by request, let the caretaker know the day before so the temperature is right when you get in, warming up from cold takes several hours. The service is billed at 300 MAD per day, payable on site, with no commitment for the whole stay if you would rather switch it on only on certain days.
Year-round, really?
Yes, with different needs depending on the season. In summer (June to September), the water naturally reaches 27-30°C, heating adds nothing, many of our guests skip it. In winter (December to February), it is the opposite: without heating, the pool becomes a backdrop, not something you use. In spring and autumn, it mostly depends on the time of day, water at 20°C warms up pleasantly by late afternoon.
Safety and children
A removable safety barrier is provided free of charge on request, fitted around the pool for families with young children. The pool is visible from the terrace and living room, which makes supervision easier without staying poolside constantly. There is no lifeguard on site, as with almost every private rental in Morocco, supervision remains the responsibility of the adults present.
Heated pool in a villa or a riad?
A Medina riad rarely offers more than a small rooftop pool, often unheated, or heated at a disproportionate cost given its size. The pool at Villa Azur is several times that surface area, with a wooden terrace around it, loungers, and above all exclusive use by the group staying, with no shared schedule with other guests. Our villa versus riad comparison covers the other differences.

Frequently asked questions about the heated pool
Do I need to heat the pool every day of my stay?
No, the service is billed day by day. Many guests switch it on only for the cooler days and skip it in peak summer, when the water is already at a comfortable temperature naturally.
How long before the water is warm?
Allow several hours for a full warm-up from cold water. Let us know the day before you arrive, or the day you want to use it, so it is ready in time.
Is the pool heated in summer?
Generally not, the water is already above 27°C naturally from June to September. The service is still available if you request it, but most of our guests do not need it that time of year.
Is there safety equipment for young children?
A removable barrier is provided free of charge on request. The pool stays visible from the terrace and living room, but there is no permanent supervisor, as with any private rental.
Does the price change with the length of stay?
No, the 300 MAD per day rate is fixed, whatever the number of days you switch it on during your stay.
