The Ourika Road, in practice
Villa Azur sits at km 13 on the Ourika Road (P2017), the route linking Marrakech to the foothills of the High Atlas. It is a wide, well-maintained tarmac road, easy to drive day or night — a standard rental car is all you need. Here is everything worth knowing before you arrive.
From Marrakech-Menara Airport
Allow 30 minutes and roughly 25 km. You skirt the city on the southern ring road, then join the Ourika Road heading southeast — the route bypasses the city centre and its traffic entirely. Our driver Youssef meets you at arrivals with a name board: 300 MAD one way, air-conditioned vehicle, child seats on request.
From the medina and Jemaa el-Fna
A 20-minute drive, 13 km. You leave the medina through Bab Ahmar, then it is a straight run to the villa. A taxi from the centre costs 150–200 MAD depending on the hour. Many of our guests head into town for dinner and come back to the quiet in the evening.
By rental car
GPS: 31.508276, -7.926872. From Marrakech, follow the P2017 towards Ourika for 13 km; the villa is signposted on your right. Parking is private, enclosed and guarded around the clock, with room for three vehicles. There is no dirt track to negotiate — tarmac runs all the way to the gate.
What is nearby
Five minutes away: grocery shops, a bakery and a pharmacy in the village of Tnine Ourika. Twenty minutes: the Amelkis and Royal Palm golf courses, the medina, and the restaurants of Guéliz. Thirty minutes: the Setti Fatma waterfalls and the Berber villages of the valley. Forty-five minutes: the Agafay desert and its sunsets.
Arrival and keys
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out before 11am, with some flexibility depending on bookings. Our caretaker lives on site: whatever time your flight lands, someone will open the gate and show you in. Just send us your flight number the day before.
Road condition and night driving
The P2017 is tarmac the whole way, with no notable potholes, lit by street lamps for the first few kilometres and reflective markers after that. Driving at night poses no particular difficulty, Marrakchis use it daily to get home. In heavy rain (rare but possible in winter), the road stays driveable, only visibility drops a little, just keep your speed moderate.
GPS apps and signal
Google Maps and Waze work perfectly all the way to the gate, the villa is correctly listed under its name. Network coverage (Maroc Telecom, Orange, Inwi) is good along the entire route from the airport, no dead zones to plan around. If in doubt on the last kilometre, Youssef is reachable on WhatsApp.
